The Perfect Thanksgiving Centerpiece

Posted by DJS Events

18 Days Until Thanksgiving! Autumn and Winter present some of the busiest times of the year for us at DJS Events, both professionally and personally. It's a fantastic time; Halloween leads into Thanksgiving, which leads into Christmas and then finally New Years. Valentine's Day is a little blip in the quieter zone of February, March and April (but we're working behind the scenes on all those Spring and Summer weddings!) Not to mention non-profit events, fundraisers, corporate and private events. (Whew!)
Now is the time to be planning for both Thanksgiving, and, if you're like us, Christmas as well. We tend to have purchased our gifts by October and have our decorations and themes chosen by early November, which is why you probably read this blog, because you're not that crazy ("crazily organized and prepared" are the pre-requisites for doing what we do).

Let's talk about Thanksgiving, DJS style. Today we'll focus on centerpieces.

Why not do something unexpected this year? Here are some off-beat ideas that will surprise and delight.

Let's get cozy! Are you all about shabby-chic? Why not made it a homespun Thanksgiving! Fabric can add beautiful color unexpected at a Thanksgiving table. If you love color and want to create a delicate, poetic atmosphere, try putting some of these on your table:

Cranberries! Bold, bright, red, and abundant, this little berry hearkens the season with a pop of color.
Get creative: Cranberries float! Put them in a bowl with floating candles or greenery.

Add some red lanterns, and your whole theme could be set. Red is traditionally used for Christmas, but used with the right corresponding colors (such as deep chestnut brown and gold) it can be perfectly Thank-full.

Having family members over that you never get to see? Something simple like old photos in mason jars can be a big hit, and everyone gets to feel included!
